Star Kids Studio
Welcome to Star Kids Studio, starring samples of student work accomplished as a result of their involvement with Star Schools funded programs. Through Star Schools projects, schools have access to instructional programming, including hands-on science and mathematics, general mathematics, algebra, calculus, physics, advanced placement courses and workplace skills. Foreign Language offerings include Russian, Japanese, Swahili, Arabic, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Instructional programs serve K-12 students, including limited English-proficient students and disabled students. Adult literacy programs are also available.
Star Exhibits
The current exhibit at the Star Schools Studio is from TEAMS Distance Learning at the Los Angeles County Office of Education. TEAMS provides live interactive student programming via a variety of delivery systems. We are featuring student work samples from the TEAMS Mathematices Program, Math In My World. These samples were kindly sent to us by TEAMS Teacher .
Mathematics In My World
This program is for students in grades 4-6. Using hands-on lessons and examples from the "real world", this series explores and develops concepts related to statistics, probability, number, patterns, geometry, and measurement through scale drawing. Lessons are designed to meet the needs of all students and sheltered strategies are incorporated.
The series consists of four modules of eight programs each. Each module is preceded by a staff development program which provides the basis of the content, methods, and procedures used in the student programs.
