| STAR Project: Supporting Teachers with Anytime/Anyplace Resources | |
|---|---|
| The United Star Distance Learning Consortium (USDLC) STAR Project provides inservice K-12 teachers, preservice deaf education teachers, and library media specialists the training, support and communication links necessary for their continued success in the teaching and learning environment. Teachers access mentors, colleagues, resources and training via STAR-Online's web based Virtual Teaching and Learning Communities (VTLCs) which provide interactive, self-paced modules in a variety of content areas. Professional development opportunities will also be available to educators via satellite (DIRECTV) through STAR-Net. In addition, drawing upon 16 years of distance learning experi- ence, USDLC will develop, pilot and deliver online student instruction courses through a STAR-School. This project allows for greater access and equity to quality educational programming through a blending of distance technologies that go from the classroom into the home on an anytime, anyplace basis. | |
