NEARStar: Network for English Acquisition and Reading
NEARStar is a research-based, online, supplementary beginning reading program aimed at meeting the early literacy needs of elementary English Language learners and the professional development needs of their teachers. The NEARStar program is an interactive, highly engaging "game-like" environment where young students learn to build a solid foundation in reading. Through data gathered from embedded online student skills assessments, teachers access diagnostic reports and are linked to customized online professional development resources to help close the loop between curriculum, assessment and instruction. As a research and developmental project, schools across the nation use our programming at no cost.
