The Maryland Digital Schools Project uses digital broadcasting and other technologies to help teachers implement innovative teaching strategies to meet new educational standards that stress higher-level thinking skills and project-based collaborative learning. Through this project, teachers are able to access the materials they need to master technology as a teaching tool. An array of classroom resources, including online field trips, activities, tools, videos, and enhanced television, are being developed to support project-based learning. These materials have been digitized and will be available on one education destination site for Maryland teachers and students in March, 2003 -- thinkport.org. Additionally, Thinkport will reinforce learning at home, reaching out to students during out-of-school time, their families and the community at large. Future efforts will include distribution on other digital platforms currently in development by Maryland Public Television.
